Hawaiʻi Island Charity Walk - May 13, 2017

The CHARITY WALK is a statewide event that occurs on Hawaiʻi Island, Kauaʻi, Lānaʻi, Mauʻi, Molokai and Oʻahu in May.
• In 2015, 11,200 walkers raised over $1.8 million to help local charities.
• In 1974 the Hawaiʻi Lodging & Tourism Association, formerly the Hawaiʻi Hotel Association, sponsored a charitable “Superwalk” to benefit one major charitable organization.
• In 1978, the Hawaiʻi Lodging & Tourism Association members voted to extend the reach of support offered by the Walk’s fundraising capability.

The Visitor Industry CHARITY WALK is the result of this decision. Since its inception in 1978, over $28 million has been raised and helped hundreds of local charities throughout the State.

Hawaiʻi Island’s 39th Annual Visitor Industry CHARITY WALK will take place on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at Queen’s Marketplace. Kanu o ka ʻĀina will be participating in the CHARITY WALK. To date, Team KANU has one hundred two (102) participants made up of students, faculty/staff, family members, friends, and supporters, who are running or walking a 3.7 mile course together.

Aʻohe hana nui ke aluʻia. No task is too big when done together. E mahalo kākou i ka mea loaʻa. Let us be thankful for what we have. Mahalo nui to KANU ʻOhana members, families, friends and community supporters for your generous contributions. A very special mahalo to KALO, our non-profit organization for providing our runners /walkers with Team t-shirts, and to Chelsey Dickson, for taking the idea, running with it and making it happen!
